I have read the novel by Victor Hugo in the 10th grade and love the story line. I also have seen the 1998 remake starting Liam Nelson. I was excited to watch this new remark starting Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, and Anne Hathaway. I think I mostly wanted to watch this movie because I couldn't fathom Russel Crowe signing musical. The verdict? Russel Crowe sounds weird singing musical, his voice is too deep and it sounds like he's forcing it. Overall, the movie would have been better if the whole thing wasn't song. I was expecting that they would only sing key moments while having regular speech for the rest of the movie. I was wrong.
My rating = 4 / 5 stars.
